Since then he has been a Distinguished Professor (“Chiara Fama”) at the University of Florence and SCID Scholar at SIEPR, dividing his time between Italy and Stanford. He has done research and taught in the fields of Economic Development, Agricultural Economics, Demography and International Trade and Finance. His current interest is in Globalization and especially its impact on developing countries. His latest book is The Asymmetries of Globalization, London and New York, 2007 (co-edited with Donato Romano). This SIEPR Brief draws on the theme-setting introductory chapter of that book.
