Stephen Haber
Senior Fellow, Stanford Center for International Development
A.A. and Jeanne Welch Milligan Professor in the School of Humanities and Science

Professor Haber's research focuses on the relationship between political organization and economic growth. Most of this research has focused on Latin America, particularly Mexico and Brazil.

He is currently researching issues of market failure and distributional conflict in international political economy, and the historical practices of sovereignty especially with regard to domestic autonomy and non-intervention.

Recent publications include:

  • Crony Capitalism and Economic Growth in Latin America: Theory and Evidence (Hoover Institution Press, forthcoming)

His teaching interests include Comparative Politics, Economic History, the Economic Consequences of Authoritarianism.
