Research Interests: East Asian economies, especially China and Indonesia
Current Research: Private enterprise development in China; progress of reform in China, especially in the financial sector
Teaching Interests: Development of Asian economies, role and effectiveness of international financial institutions, thesis supervision of students working in those areas

Dr. Hope is the Deputy Director of SCID. He was previously with the World Bank as Country Director for China and Mongolia, and Director of the Resident Staff in Indonesia. His research interests are in East Asian economies, especially China and Indonesia.
