About

While at SIEPR, Natalie will continue researching how the growing use of technology and data is changing the way insurance and lending markets function.  Many online firms now offer financial or insurance products that are more flexible and personalized than traditional contracts; for example repayment plans that are tailored to individuals' income and expenditures, and that can easily adjusted over time.  Natalie will be studying how consumers understand and interact with these more complete, but also more complex, contracts, specifically in the life insurance and small business lending space.  Natalie is also studying how the availability and use of consumer data to generate risk-based prices will impact the size and distribution of surplus, especially in markets where adverse selection is present.
