Hongbin Li (PhD, Stanford 2001) is the James Liang Director of the China Program at the Stanford King Center on Global Development and a senior fellow of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR). Before joining the Stanford faculty, he was C.V. Starr Chair Professor, Department of Economics, Tsinghua University, and professor of economics, Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on China’s development and transition, and he is one of the most cited Chinese economists. He received a Changjiang Scholarship and the National Award for Distinguished Young Scientists in China in 2010. He is the co-editor of the Journal of Comparative Economics.
