Robert Okun was a fellow at Harvard University with the Advanced Leadership Initiative during 2019. His focus for the year was on the inequality of opportunities and outcomes in education in the U.S. Okun is also the former senior partner and chief investment officer at Oak Hill Advisors, where he was responsible for the firm’s overall investment strategy and portfolio management. Prior to joining Oak Hill Advisors in 2001, he was executive vice president and a member of the executive committee at U.S. Bancorp Libra, in charge of high-yield sales, trading, and research. Previously, he was a managing director at UBS Securities LLC, where he was responsible for all high-yield sales and trading activities. He began his career at Salomon Brothers Inc.
Okun is a member of the Advisory Board of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR). He received an AB degree in economics and psychology from Stanford University.
