SIEPR senior fellows Jay Bhattacharya, Caroline Hoxby honored by the American Academy of Sciences and Letters
SIEPR senior fellows Jay Bhattacharya and Caroline Hoxby are among six Stanford scholars who were honored this year by the American Academy of Sciences and Letters.
Bhattacharya, a professor of health policy, was awarded the Zimmer Medal, which is presented annually to a public thinker who displays extraordinary courage in the exercise of intellectual freedom.
Hoxby, the Scott and Donya Bommer Professor of Economics at Stanford, was invested as a member of the Academy at a ceremony in October, along with three other Stanford scholars: Peter Berkowitz, Sir Niall Ferguson and Barry Stuart Strauss.
The Academy also awarded Brian Conrad, Stanford professor of mathematics, a 2024 Barry Prize, which recognizes intellectual excellence and independence.
The American Academy of Sciences and Letters promotes learning and honors outstanding scholarly excellence and intellectual courage in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering, as well as in the arts and the learned professions.
