Jessica Brown
Jessica Brown is an assistant professor of economics at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. She is also a research fellow at IZA and a faculty affiliate at the Wilson-Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities.
Brown is a labor and public economist with a focus on the economics of the child care market. She has studied topics such as how the child care market responds to macroeconomic conditions, the minimum wage, and immigration enforcement. Her research has been published in academic journals including the Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Public Economics, and the Journal of Health Economics and is supported by grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. Her expertise on the child care market has also been featured in major media outlets, including the New York Times, Washington Post, and NPR’s Planet Money.
Brown holds a B.S. in mathematics and economics from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University.
