John Lyman

John Lyman is a venture capitalist and managing partner of Telescope, where he focuses on investing in early-stage emerging technology companies. Before Telescope he spent sixteen years at Google, working on early-stage products and backing high-growth entrepreneurs. For seven of those years he was a partner at Google Ventures (GV), where he led investments in companies like Podium, StockX, and Toast. Prior to joining GV, he led Google’s global partnerships work with technology incubators and accelerators, including Y Combinator and Techstars.

Before joining the Alphabet family of companies, John worked in Washington D.C. in public policy and advocacy roles. He helped start and was an early employee at both the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) and Center for American Progress (CAP). He graduated from Georgetown University with an AB in Government and has an MPP from UC Berkeley. He serves on the board of the Oakland Fund and is a member of the Abundance Network.
