Samarth Gupta

Samarth Gupta is a policy fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. He most recently served in the Treasury Department during the Biden Administration, beginning as a Special Assistant for Russia/Ukraine in the Office of Economic Policy before joining the Office of the Deputy Secretary as a policy advisor and speechwriter. Before joining the Treasury, he worked under the Chief Economist at the Office of Management & Budget to help design and develop proposals on the taxation of unrealized capital gains. Prior to the start of the Biden Administration, served on the economic policy team for the Biden-Harris campaign and transition team. 

A Truman Scholar, he graduated from Harvard College with a B.A. in economics, Oxford University with a M.Phil in Comparative Social Policy on a Rhodes Scholarship, and Yale Law School with a J.D.
