T V Ninan
Ninan is a Research Scholar at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR). His research spans housing, environmental and development economics, with a focus on using rigorous empirical methods and modelling to inform economic policy. He is particularly passionate about using data-driven approaches to design and evaluate policies that improve economic and social outcomes for poor and vulnerable populations.
Ninan earned his PhD from the University of Washington, Seattle, where his work examined the determinants of children’s learning, intra-household bargaining and communication, community-level anti-poverty programs, and interventions to empower adolescent girls. Before his PhD, he was a Research Associate at the Indian Statistical Institute, where he evaluated how improving electricity reliability could reduce indoor air pollution in rural households. He holds an MA in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University and a BA in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi.
Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, running on scenic trails, and closely following political developments.
