SIEPR's General Research Program supports research across the policy spectrum that is not part of our other programs and centers. Program research, funded largely with unrestricted money, is broad in scope and often long-term in nature. It allows us to pursue scholarship that doesn’t easily fit into our other research units. In addition, much of our support for junior faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students runs through the general research program. SIEPR is a place where young scholars can concentrate on research with minimal distraction. The prominent role they play is one of SIEPR’s defining features. For example, the postdoctoral program, housed in General Research, brings recent PhDs to SIEPR before they begin their academic careers.
