Luigi Bocola is an associate professor of Economics at Stanford University and a faculty research fellow at the NBER. He received a B.A. and a doctorate from the University of Torino and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Stanford University in 2018, he was an assistant professor of Economics at Northwestern University and a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Professor Bocola’s research addresses issues in open- and closed-economy macroeconomics. His research has focused on the macroeconomic consequences of sovereign debt crises, on financial dollarization in emerging markets, and on exchange rate policies. Among a number of honors, he received an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship and a CAREER grant from the National Science Foundation.
